The Gaucho International Polo at Indigo O2
Pukka PR have attended and covered several high profile outdoor Polo tournaments however, this time we were invited to The Gaucho International Polo the first indoor Polo event of its kind held on 24 February at the O2 Indigo Arena Greenwich. The event was organised by fast-growing successful global restaurant chain Gaucho, specialists in traditional Argentinian Gaucho grill cuisine.
Corporate clients and Media mingled in the hospitality lounge where champagne was provided by Pommery. I decided to have some fun by participating in ‘Have A Go Polo' by climbing up on to a dummy horse while a representative from Ascot Park gave me a quick basic guide how to hold and use a Polo mallet, a first attempt for me. My mother Amita took photos whilst I was up on the wooden horse having a laugh and going through the motions with the instructor.
As a warm-up in the Arena, spectators were introduced to the rules and game of Polo with Oxford and Cambridge teams taking part in a Polo Exhibition match. Opening Polo competition match was City A.M Team Scotland vs Mantis Group Team South Africa competing for the Ambassadors Cup with Scotland winning 14-11. Being used to seeing and enjoying Polo being played the traditional way in the open air it was unusual seeing polo players galloping in an indoor arena on sand and not grass turf.
After an interval the Celebrity Charity Polo match with team participants Kenny Logan, Mike Bushell, Liz Mc Clarnon and Charlotte Christodolou was played in aid of British Forces Foundation with the Sand Polo team winning.
The final anticipated polo match with EFG Bank Team England vs Camino Real Team Argentina resulted in victory for England winning the Churchill Cup, a very close score at 17-16 and a very proud and jubilant captain Chris Hyde popping the Pommery at the presentation, well done England!
The first Gaucho International Polo took place during a week day however, if the event was to return to Indigo O2 during a weekend the event would probably attract more visitors and, if there were family-friendly activities for children/teens with affordable Gaucho food special offers then the event might attract younger Polo spectators too but it was a good debut Gaucho event at the O2.

London Sky Bar Launch
London Sky Bar is a recent addition to the thriving London night scene situated on the 29th floor of Millbank Tower along the riverside. The new Members bar is the latest venue to be launched by Justin Etzin, entrepreneur based in New York who was in London overseeing his latest business venture.
In February a series of events took place to launch Sky bar and Pukka PR was invited to one of the launch nights to explore the venue with other guests from the Media/PR, Entertainment and Hospitality industries. A range of ‘welcome' cocktails were served at the bar. The bar interior is predominantly white with minimalist decor, leather banquette seating and lights which periodically change colour. Undoubtedly the main attraction is sipping drinks whilst admiring some of London's most panoramic views from that altitude. At the bar I noticed a familiar face, John Stephen owner of Chinawhite club who had slipped away from his own club on a busy Friday night to venture out, have a drink and take a peek at the new London Sky bar.
As the night progressed a DJ took over the decks playing upbeat sounds and a lively Bongo drummer joined the DJ creating a clubby atmosphere. Various Artistes also entertained guests - two female dancers wearing sexy pilot outfits performed on podiums, body-painted human sculptures perched on pedestals and twin sisters promoting a new Playboy drink enjoyed posing for photos with guests.
London Sky Bar is exclusive in the sense that it only operates on Fridays and Saturdays which makes it unique and is recommended as a trendy nightspot in an impressive location with excellent views.
