The Grand Prix Ball a celebratory event normally held near Silverstone this year took place at The Hurlingham Club with a star-studded guest list, fantastic Formula 1 cars from past to present on display and a charity fundraising auction. The Ball was organised by PR consultant/Entrepreneur Jonny Dodge.
Current F1 drivers were unable to attend the Ball as they were busy ‘gearing up' at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Guests were invited to mingle with celebs, VIP's and view a special collection of F1 cars on display. Alan and John representing the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge Surrey were outside in the forecourt near the entrance to the Hurlingham Club promoting two of the most historic, sought-after vintage Grand Prix cars: the ‘Halford Special' 1924 model which took part in the first ever British Grand Prix in 1926 at Brooklands racing circuit where car racing first began before Silverstone. Also exhibited was the 1933 ‘Napier Railton' the fastest ever performance car to drive around Brooklands with a 24 litre Napier aeroplane engine, built for and driven by the late John Cobb (British Racing driver.) Alan and John were at the event to secure donations for ‘Buy a Yard of Banking' a fundraising campaign to help save Brooklands the original British motor racing circuit in Surrey. Those interested in this campaign can log on to www.bankingonbrooklands.co.uk to make a donation.
Showbiz celebs arrived at the red carpet event posing for a group of keen photographers and media outside Hurlingham club. Some of the guests included Actor/Martial Artist Rick Yune, Karen Hardy from Strictly Come Dancing, Lizzie Cundy from OK! TV interviewing guests, Singer Ben Montague, Actress Michelle Collins, Singer Beverley Knight, Singer Darius Campbell, Singer/DJ Rick Parfitt Junior, F1 pundit Eddie Jordan, Liz from Atomic Kittens, Nancy Dell'Olio and Jade from Sugababes.
Guests were treated to a Pommery Champagne reception and dinner with a grand entertainment programme featuring performances from Sugababes, Darius Campbell, Ben Montague, Eddie Jordan & The Robbers and music sets provided by top club DJ's Seb Fontaine and DJ Lora.
Apparently fundraising at the Ball generated £43,000 for the CLIC Sargent children's cancer care charity which was an excellent sum. Log on to www.clicsargent.org.uk to make further donations to this charity.
Well done to all the team and participating brands, we enjoyed viewing the F1 cars and covering this charity event in aid of an extremely vital cause. A large photo collection of guests and F1 cars on display at the event can be viewed in the Pukka PR website Gallery.
