FaCshion in the East End - The Old Truman Brewery Brick Lane
13th Sepetember 08
Before the start of London Fashion Week for two days the bright light and cavernous Truman brewery was transformed into a showcase for evolving fashion designers exhibiting their latest collections (some ethically made) plus accessories, shoes, handbags and jewellery. Also represented at the event were other related brands to the fashion industry such as beauty therapists Dermalogica, hairdressers and style gurus where press and trade were greeted with Sushi, champagne and a goody bag.
The fashion show featured several designers showcasing an eclectic mix of high standard innovative casual daywear, evening wear, knitwear, coats, jackets and beach wear. Many of the garments were highly impressive, moderately priced and equally as good as the couture seen during London Fashion Week shows so it's a good event and opportunity for traders/buyers to network and purchase exclusive pieces.
Strolling around the exhibition stalls we discovered the work of leather handbag designers Steven Harkin, E4ma Design and Anaphora; met for the first time designer Farah Damji of Moksa Surya and tried on a Dragon coat, saw the quintessentially English style Rimae Clothing and Just Bluff T-shirts inspired by Poker then met Amisha whose brand donates ten percent of profit to selected local/global charities.
Some of the exhibitors, bright designers and other demonstrators featured were;-
Mimi Didi, Freya Rose, Jeminee Solanki, Nicola Marie, Conquer, Helena Carrizosa,Giaroye, Edie Rocks Lingerie & Sleepwear, Credau Menswear, Uncle Baxta T-Shirts, Osman Ozdemir, Nonchalant, Dre's Designs, Kamua, Lady Waisted Handmade customized lingerie/clothing, Devi doll, Shara Design Studio, Finethings, Kizmet custom made jewellery, Funky Beads, Tan Silver, Golden jewellery, Mayaa UK, Emma Levinson jewellery, Earth Hairdessing and Rozy Stylianou Make-up and online personal styling service iStylista.
A place where people could momentarily forget the credit crunch and toxic waste at this most worthwhile well organized fashion arena for not only trade but members of the public to view, buy and enjoy a fashion-packed event with complimentary entry!
