A love of marvellous motors at The London Classic Car Show 2019
This year's opening of The London Classic Car Show coincided with Valentine's Day where some of the most sought-after cars were the objects of desire at The ExCel on 14th - 17th February 2019.
On Friday 15th February the day Pukka PR covered LCCS, the motoring journalist Quentin Wilson best known for presenting TV programme Top Gear hosted a seminar ‘The Classic Car Investment Forum' at the Supagard Theatre with a panel of experts.
A commemorative display featuring original and replica vehicles from the 1969 British film ‘The Italian Job' starring Michael Caine were sourced by the LCCS & Octane Magazine for an exclusive 50th anniversary tribute. Three dinky Mini Coopers (red, white & blue) made their mark in the film when they were used as zippy getaway cars in one of the most memorable car chase scenes in cinema history. In the film, the three Mini Coopers transporting stolen gold bars end up being driven into the back of a Harrington Legionnaire coach. These vehicles along with a Lamborghini Miura, Aston Martin DB4 Convertible and Jaguar E-Type Roadster were also included in the tribute collection at the show.
Specially selected vintage and modern Citroën car models were exhibited at LCCS in recognition of their centenary this year. The French automotive brand renowned for their distinctive Citroën 2CV with curved roof was one of their most popular models because it was affordable, economical, and reliable. A yellow Citroën 2CV that featured in the James Bond film ‘For Your Eyes Only' was driven on the Grand Avenue.
‘POPBANGCOLOUR' art work was produced by Ian Cook, an artist and car enthusiast who uses radio-controlled toy cars to paint pictures of real cars - we saw Ian working on his painting of The Italian Job Mini cars during the event.
The London Classic Car Show encompasses a wide variety of car clubs, brands, showrooms and services which makes this annual event a hugely enjoyable experience for attendees.
We also visited The London Motorcycle show, a separate event held within the ExCel centre. We watched a bike race at The Michelin Thunderdrome and browsed a vast array of bikes exhibited by leading manufacturers. We were fortunate to have the opportunity of viewing two major exhibitions in one day and it was worthwhile seeing both.
