Wonders of the automotive world at The London Classic Car Show 23-26 February 2017
The London Classic Car Show returned to the ExCeL Centre for a superb third event on 23rd- 26th February 2017. Pukka PR was present at the LCCS on Friday 24th Feb and we were again astounded by the fine automobiles on display from quirky Volkswagen Beetles to high-powered Lamborghinis. Masses of visitors came from wide and afar to view the vast collection of cars on show over four days.
Well known figures from the world of motorsport and other celebrities made special appearances at the gala evening on 24th February. And, on each day of the show crowds gathered to see specially selected cars with interesting historical backgrounds in action on the Grand Avenue at different intervals. Fortunately for some of the participating exhibitors there was a successful outcome with sales made on cars. Rare classic cars can be very collectable and vintage cars along with property and art are now considered a good investment as classic cars continue to increase in value.
I met Michael Kliebenstein European Marketing Director of The London Classic Car Show who observed I'd been enthusiastically taking photos of cars at the Vintage & Prestige Classic Cars stand. Michael noticed I'd been admiring a stylish mint green & white 1930 Rolls Royce Phantom and he took a photo of me inside the car. I could imagine an Indian maharajah from the bygone era having a Rolls Royce like the one I sat in as some of maharajahs used to own fleets of Rolls Royces in the 20's/30's/40's. Nearby on the same stand was an equally elegant Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II, 1962 convertible with pale gold chassis and cream interior...I felt like sitting at the back of this glamorous car with a glass of champagne!
At Supercar Bodyshop, the showpiece car was a red & black Ferrari F12 with high gloss carbon fibre vinyl and bespoke gold accents. SB specialise in customising high performance and prestige cars but we were informed they've also done work on less expensive cars too. If I were ever to buy a new Ferrari it would be a customised one like this with a more subtle shade rather than the usual bright red.
Ferraris were in abundance having been included in numerous showcases at the LCCS this year and an assortment of twenty fabulous Ferraris from past to present were featured in the Ferrari Tribute Collection. Joe Macari, a Ferrari expert & dealer assisted in putting together this special display mainly comprising of signature red Ferraris, being the traditional colour for racing in Italy.
Exhibitors kept asking me which car was my favourite and I could have listed several brands of both classic and modern cars I'd gladly drive away in. As ever it was an absolute joy attending The London Classic Car Show and I look forward to seeing what the LCCS has in store for 2018...toot toot for now.
