When it comes to tropical get-away destinations China is not usually one of the obvious choices however ‘Sanya' located south of China's Hainan island is still yet to be discovered by many discerning holiday-makers. This being the reason for Sanya Municipal People's Government holding a promotional event at the China Exchange in London's Chinatown on 21st August 2017.
The event began with a lively performance featuring graceful female dancers and energetic male dancers wearing vibrant traditional ethnic costumes.
One of the main representatives helping to raise awareness of Sanya was, Mr. Bao Jian Executive Vice Mayor of Sanya Municipal People's Government who delivered a speech to guests at the event. He commented on Sanya's picturesque scenery, consistent warm climate, luxurious resorts and encouraged people to visit for holidays, weddings, honeymoons or corporate events. Another speaker, Mr Thomas Chan who was the first Chinese Mayor of Redbridge and is currently Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London also expressed great enthusiasm for Sanya.
Julia Morley Chairwoman of Miss World spoke glowingly of Sanya as she's been visiting the island since 2002 and told me that she loves Sanya because of the native people and the fact that the island is unspoilt. Stephanie Del Valle, Miss World 2016 contest winner contributed to Sanya's tourism PR activities by appearing at the event. The towering beauty posed for photos with guests and seemed to be enjoying her last few months as Miss World before she hands over the title to a new winner at the finals taking place in China in November 2017. Attendees also present at the event were media and representatives from the travel & tourism sectors.
Guests were invited to sample exotic fresh fruit and different types of Chinese candy and were presented with handcrafted items from Sanya.
This event brightened up an overcast day in London and made me dream of being in Sanya an island which seems like an enchanting paradise and somewhere I hope to visit one day.
