‘Bond Noël' Bringing Christmas to Bond Street

22/11/2007

We were met with drifts of snowflakes as we returned to one of our favourite traditional pre Christmas events ‘Bond Noël‘ 2007.   An entertaining evening event organized by the Bond Street Association and Shop West End in aid of this year the Great Ormond St Hospital Children's charity.

Annually for one day only Bond St is closed off to west end traffic enabling pedestrians to leisurely walk the entire length of Bond Street as it transforms into a Christmas shopping extravaganza.  Artificial snowfalls create a magical scene with street entertainers, Father Christmas & his animated helpers, reindeers, stilt walkers entertaining children, carol singers and musicians all performing in different locations enhancing the evening's festive atmosphere.  The festival Bond Noël now attracts more visitors every year.

We commenced in New Bond St joining the festivities visiting a few of the participating boutiques and relaxed with a glass of champers compliments of the House whilst admiring couture clothing collections and some of the spectacular window displays.  In some of the prestigious luxury brand stores and boutiques live models actually appeared in the windows delighting spectators and shoppers.   Arc angels attractively lit up neighbouring South Molton St while Debenhams' facade glittered in Oxford St draped in fairy lights.
